What is eConnect?
Answer: eConnect is a curriculum support service for schools. It is a combination of classnotes and assignments. Assignments comprise subjective and objective questions prepared by the school teachers and are aimed at supplementing daily classroom interactions. They also serve as pointers to text book based questions. Schools have an option of creating classnotes and assignments on a fortnightly / monthly basis as per their requirements and choice. The content can also be archived for future use.

eClassnotes:
eClassnotes are a comprehensive summary of the course taught in class and  can be posted online. Teachers can also use this space to put up a brief synopsis of the course to be taught in the forthcoming weeks. This helps the students to prepare beforehand and also facilitates better understanding of the subject.

eAssignments:
eAssignments are long answer questions prepared by the teacher. They can be downloaded and used for class discussions as per convenience. Student can attempt these questions at home any time. In addition to this, the teacher has the option to put up answers to these questions in the following week.

Online MCQ Test:
MCQ Tests are a multiple choice question bank. Answers can be submitted online and instant results can be obtained. Self-evaluation and concept internalisation are made easy by the objective MCQ online testing tool.

eConnect is a very comprehensive study support system for the student. It ensures complete and thorough understanding of concepts and provides a base for self preparation.

What are the benefits to the students?
Answer: Students are able to access this information pool and study at their own pace. The archived classnotes can be referred to at any point of time while preparing for exams. They are especially helpful for the students who like to put in extra time and effort in their regular study schedule. eConnect provides the students with a one-to-one communication channel with their teachers for queries. In case of absentees, it provides a quick recap of the course covered in the class.

How do teachers gain by using this service ?
Answer: These classnotes are archived. Hence, they can be referred to at any point of time and serve as a databank for the faculty. This service provides an opportunity for better interaction with the students.

Courses can be planned in advance. For example, in case the teacher wants a certain assignment to be up before the syllabus is covered in the class – the teacher can create the content and post it on the site.

Do these classnotes enhance teaching methodologies?
Answer: Yes, they do. They are an extension of the value-added information that a teacher provides to the students during a regular class session.

eClassnotes provide the ease of accessibility at any point of time, anywhere – even if the student / faculty are away from the school.

This helps to increase the pace of learning and provides more room for discussions and interaction amongst students and teachers.

eClassnotes act as a databank for the school. Students can refer to them in case of any queries. This helps them to be better prepared for exams.

What are the next steps for a school that signs up?
Answer:
A school coordinator is assigned. The coordinator facilitates the information flow between specific subject teachers from each class (VIth - XIIth) and the eGurucool representative servicing the school.

The material to be posted on the site has to be prepared by the school and passed on to the company. This can be done on a fortnightly / monthly basis. eGurucool uploads it within a period of 1-2 days and makes it accessible online for the students to go through and attempt.

The answers and queries could then be submitted online to the concerned faculty or could be discussed within the classroom.

What if a student does not have access to computer?
Answer:
There are two possible alternatives

  • School provides access after school hours
  • Student takes initiative to use it from common facility area like cyber café

    How do I activate the Student and Parent IDs
    Answer: Two eConnect Login IDs - one for the student and the other for the parent can be created by using one pair of Student ID and Parent ID. Students and parents have to activate this pair and choose separate eConnect Login ID / Passwords to access eConnect. The content uploaded under eConnect can be accessed using either of the IDs. The Student Login ID has to be created before the Parent Login ID.

    Student IDs

    1. Log on to http://www.egurucool.com
    2. On the top left hand side click on the link 'Activate eConnect' under the section 'eConnect'. 3. A small form opens. Enter your Student ID, Parent ID and select User type as Student.
    4. On clicking submit, eConnect registration page will open.
    5. Type in the required information and choose a Login ID and password for yourself and click submit.
    6. In case the Login ID has already been chosen, the form will show you the relevant message and you can chose another ID.
    7. While filling in the form, make sure that you submit all the information correctly.
    8. A welcome message appears once you are registered.
    9. Go back to the homepage of http://www.egurucool.com
    10. On the top left hand side, under the section eConnect, click on to 'My eConnect' link. Enter the Login ID and password that you had chosen and click submit. It will take you to the page with hyperlinks for Classnotes, Assignments and Performance tracker. Follow this process (step 10) every time you wish to access eConnect.

    Parent IDs

    1. The entire process remains the same as explained above, except select User type as Parent while activating the eConnect Login ID.
    2. On clicking submit, the eGurucool.com registration page will open.
    3. Fill in the required information and choose a Login ID and password for yourself, select your child's school and class and click submit.
    4. In case the Login ID has already been chosen, the form will show you the relevant message and you can chose another ID.
    5. A welcome message appears once you are registered.
    6. Go back to the home page of http://www.egurucool.com On the top left hand side, under the section eConnect, click on to 'My eConnect' link. Enter the Login ID and password that you had chosen and click submit. It will take you to the page with hyperlinks for Classnotes, Assignments and Performance tracker. Follow this process (step 5) every time you wish to access eConnect.
