After reading this lesson you will be able to:  

  • familiarise yourselves with the some basic processes of the body that are extremely essential to our body (called life processes). For example, nutrition, respiration, transportation and excretion.  
  • know about nutrition, its various types along with examples and the process of digestion-enzymatic action and end products.  
  • learn the process of digestion in Amoeba,Paramoecium and Human beings. 
  • know about respiration - the basic process, aerobic and anaerobic respiration.  
  • learn the detailed process of respiration in human beings.
  •  get aquainted with the source of energy and also its role in maintaining all life processes.
  • learn about the mechanism of flow of water and other material in plant body.  
  • know about different functions performed by the circulatory system in animals.  
  • learn how oxygenated and deoxygenated blood flows through the heart.  
  • appreciate how efficiently the heart pumps blood day and night throughout our life.     
  • differentiate between the various parts of the heart.  
  • learn about lymph.  
  • differentiate various parts of the human excretory system.  
  • know about the chief organs of excretion.  
  • understand the functions of kidneys  
  • appreciate how efficiently kidneys eliminate waste products from the body.  
  • study the excretion in plants.  
  • explain the role of kidneys in the process of osmoregulation.
