Which substance is the most crucial to our existence? Which substance is the most abundant one on earth? Which is the commodity for which people in many villages of India trek several kilometre daily? The answer to these questions would unanimously be, "Water". This chapter takes a close look at some of the interesting aspects of this vital substance.
  1. Water is a compound.  (Explanation)
  2. Water exists as solid, liquid or gas under different conditions.  (Explanation)
  3. At normal atmospheric pressure the freezing point of water is 0o C, and the boiling point of water is 100o C.  (Explanation)
  4. Pure water is neutral towards litmus. (Explanation)
